This opportunity will allow for a variety of work and collaboration including, but not limited to process system design; construction support; project management; professional development; leadership; planning, scheduling, and profitability.   Job Responsibilities: - Application of Knowledge of Process Systems - Researches, documents, and is responsible for discipline design compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, standards and regulations - Responsible for placement of safety symbols on construction documents as necessary for discipline - Applies discipline design methods and detailing fundamentals in developing designs and specifications - Performs analysis or calculations as assigned for process throughput and mass balance and selects proper equipment for the applications - Design - Ensures well-organized, finished design documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness from layouts, sketches, or their written instructions - Actively participates in project strategy meetings, develops design concept, and recommends equipment and systems within discipline - Researches and is responsible for discipline design compliance with proposal/client criteria - Assures adherence to drawing production strategy. Writes discipline specifications for assigned projects - Responsible for the development of PFDs (process flow diagrams) and P&IDs for all assigned projects, making recommendations and coordinating changes/updates as necessary - Develops and verifies equipment lists, equipment specifications, and controls, as well as instrumentation requirements for each assigned process project - Construction Support - Checks shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents - Participates in plant surveys or field inspections, development of solutions to field problems, preparation of field orders, addenda and record drawings - Advises and assists construction personnel in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents - Performs, as requested, construction inspections, at the client’s site or at a vendor for specialty equipment, to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings, and specifications. Prepares inspection reports - Provides timely solutions to field problems and prepares field orders, addenda and record drawings - Supports and performs start-up activities - Project Management - Performs dimensional, interference, and basic design checks on layouts and sketches and, as requested, on interdisciplinary drawing sets - Coordinates work with other disciplines. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions in drawings and specifications - Coordinates the development of PFDs (process flow diagrams) and P&IDs for all assigned projects  - Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability - Participates in assigned client meetings and prepares and reviews presentation material. - Creates work plan for assigned tasks - Creates orderly work files and prepares clear, well-written memos/correspondence - Assists the project team with the identification of process partners (equipment & automation) and pre-qualifies them for appropriate services - Produces pricing and proposal presentation documents and outline specifications - Monitors and projects personal workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules and determines any schedule changes - Professional Development - Participates in professional community organizations and trade organizations within discipline - Leadership - Adheres to established company standards and policies - Directs technical efforts of discipline subordinates assigned to the project Education/Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Chemical and Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is preferred - Minimum of 5 years of process design and application engineering experience - Strong experience and knowledge of a variety of food processing equipment/systems, sanitary design, and hygienic requirements including mixing, baking, frying, and a working knowledge of controls and instrumentation commonly used Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications: - Working knowledge of related regulatory, oversight, and advisory agencies: AIB, FDA, USDA, EPA, GMPs, and HACCP Haskell offers a very robust and comprehensive benefits package! You will administer and manage the Project Delivery Group (PDG) or office discipline staff and design processes in respective discipline. You will also serve as Design Engineer on assigned projects.   Job Responsibilities: - Application of Knowledge of Design - Maintains state-of-the-art knowledge of new processes and products and stays current with design and construction technology and methods/trends - Actively participates in the development and maintenance of design standards, technical details, standard specifications, checklists, and production procedures for the delivery group discipline. Reviews and enforces compliance with standards - Recommends information for in-house resource centers, libraries, publications, codes, standards, testing equipment and similar materials relating to the discipline - Assists Chief Electrical Engineer in review and selection of discipline-specific analysis and modeling software - Design - Participates in the development of group and corporate standards and specifications committees - Keeps apprised of new technologies and assists in the incorporation of the new technologies into the A/E practice and discipline design standards - Coordinates work with other disciplines. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions in drawings and specifications - Signs and seals design documents when assigned as Professional of Record. Maintains ethics and professionalism. - Provides leadership in the implementation of corporate quality processes - Complies with state regulations regarding professional registrations - Assures adherence to drawing production strategy and the utilization of the corporate design standards and specifications - Responsible to produce well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness - Writes discipline specifications for assigned projects - Assures adherence within the group to the discipline quality plan and procedures - Construction Support - Establishes procedures for assuring design and construction Quality standards. You will be responsible for assisting the Group Discipline Leader, Group A/E Principal, and A/E Discipline Leader in training and mentoring the staff, developing the group in corporate standards, and other assigned tasks.   Job Responsibilities: - Application of Heavy Civil Structures Knowledge - Produces pricing and proposal presentation documents - Utilizes the AASHTO design and materials codes - Develops complete structural system design of various building/construction types of varying complexity. - Assists with updates to standard details/specs - Participates in project strategy meetings, develops design concepts, and recommends appropriate structural and foundation systems -  Design - Analysis - Prepares clear, complete, and concise calculations including software models, and provides the appropriate level of connection design as required - Presents advantages/disadvantages of different structural design schemes to the project team - Detailing - Develops all details necessary for assigned projects - Coordinates work with other disciplines. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in drawings and specifications - Incorporates client criteria into design documents - Prepares design criteria for all projects and assures compliance with proposal/client criteria - Signs and seals design documents when assigned as Structural Engineer of Record - Responsible for the production of well-organized structural documents, calculations, and specifications that are accurate, clear, concise, and complete - Participates in bid reviews when requested - Participates in design reviews with the design team at 30% and 100% on all assigned projects - Performs peer reviews of documents of other structural engineers - Construction Support - Responds to all RFI’s and reviews submittals for compliance in a timely manner - Participates in appropriate preconstruction/preparatory meetings - Performs site visits & prepares observation/follow-up phase reports documenting progress and deficiencies - Prepares punch lists upon structure completion - Prepares field orders, addenda, and record drawings - Reviews all structural related testing and inspection reports - Demonstrates critical thinking and responds promptly when dealing with field requests/issues - Project Management - Communicates effectively with external/internal customers and staff in a professional manner conveying pertinent project information as required. Attends project meetings as requested - Directs technical efforts of Structural Interns, Designers and Technicians assigned to your projects - Plans production of structural work for assigned projects, and assures adherence to discipline/industry standards - Manages, coordinates, and monitors efforts/costs of outside structural consultants - Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability - Prepares budgets for structural work on prospects/proposals, monitors progress and completes projects within the stated fee - Monitors projects for scope creep and reports changes to the Design Project Manager - Prepares staffing plans for projects and completes all projects on time - Professional Development - Attends seminars and conferences as necessary to maintain professional competency and satisfy required continuing education requirements - Provides training to staff from base knowledge and seminars/conferences attended - Keeps apprised of new structural technologies and assists in the incorporation of the new technologies into the A/E practice - Actively participates in local and national professional organization(s) including involvement at director and officer levels - Leadership - Mentors younger engineers, interns, and designers regarding structural engineering and career development by being cognizant of the different learning styles of mentees - Leads structural staff working under his/her direction - Communicates with Group Lead Structural Engineer regarding leadership concerns - Participates in management and leadership training as requested by Group Lead and/or Chief Structural Engineers - Serves as the subject matter expert in structural engineering in the application of advanced concepts, principles, and methods Education/Experience: - Bachelor’s degree (Masters preferred) from an ABET accredited university in civil/structural engineering preferred or other degree related to the civil engineering profession. - Engineering experience of 5 years in structural design and application. Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications: - Bridge Knowledge - Good knowledge of various bridge and structure types - Good understanding of AASHTO Bridge Design Code - Good understanding of structural design process from concepts through construction - Good understanding of standard details/specs - Ability to quickly develop structural design strategy/concepts/solutions - Ability to work independently on a variety of simple projects and large complex projects - Good presentation skills - Good written and verbal communication skills - Ability to work with a laptop, tablet (iPad or Microsoft equivalent), and mobile devices - Ability to access project information remotely when working outside the office using VPN and/or Citrix - Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook - Ability to work within Microstation and Openbridge is a plus.
