The Design & Consulting Team serves a diverse set of markets including food and beverage, consumer products, aviation and aerospace, civil infrastructure, healthcare, and Federal Government projects. As a team member at Haskell, you’ll have the opportunity to work on impactful projects that will challenge your creativity, innovation, and expand your skill set.   In this role, you will be responsible for the production of innovative and appropriately cost-effective, designs, drawings, and specifications for assigned projects. Further, you will maintain a professional registration and sign/seal documents prepared under your supervision. You must have experience with REVIT. Experience as an Architect within the Design/Build industry is highly preferred.   Job Responsibilities: - Conceptual Design - Utilizes innovation in design and methods - Develops design concepts, recommends systems, produces pricing and proposal documents, and outlines specifications - Researches and is responsible for discipline design compliance with proposal/client criteria - Establish a Discipline basis for design - Detailed Design - Analysis Ability - Researches, and documents and is responsible for discipline design compliance with all applicable codes, ordinances, standards, and regulations - Designing for Safety incorporated into drawings - Detailing - Comply with the QIP - Uses Haskell standards and procedures - Coordinates work with other disciplines, including outside consultants as applicable. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in drawings and specifications - Leads the production of well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness -  Construction Documents - Signs and seals design documents when assigned as Professional of Record -  Construction Support - Reviews applicable shop drawings and submittal data for compliance with construction documents - Advises and assists Construction Project Managers, Superintendents, and Subcontractors in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents - Participates in construction observation to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings, and specifications. Prepares inspection reports and punch lists - Provides solutions to field problems, responds to RFI, and prepares field orders and addenda - Leads production and archiving of record drawings and specifications - Planning/Scheduling - Projects, monitors, and informs design manager of workload status of project discipline staff - Participates in project strategy meetings - Participates in the creation of overall key date schedule, including permitting schedule - Creates discipline work plan for assigned projects - Profitability - Prepares man-hour estimate for discipline work - Assists the Design Manager in monitoring costs of discipline-related outside consultants - Participates in team review to assure discipline scope is covered in project budgets, estimates, and subcontractor bids - Project Management - Directs technical efforts of discipline staff assigned to the project - Monitors discipline adherence to strategy, key date schedule, and work plan - Assists in coordinating information with and monitoring discipline-related outside consultants - Monitors workload status; advises design manager - Prepares meeting minutes and other communications in coordination with the design manager - Mentoring assigned staff  Education/Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university - 5-10 years of experience as a licensed architect Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications: - Licensed Professional Architect - Knowledgeable in A/E technology and software. You must have strong knowledge of food and/or beverage processing equipment/systems, with a working knowledge of controls and instruments commonly used.   Job Responsibilites: - Application of Knowledge of Process Systems - Ensures execution of the process scope of services that meets customer’s project requirements and complies with all applicable codes, ordinances, standards, and regulations - Develops all engineering calculations for process throughput, mass/energy balance, equipment sizing, relief devices, heat transfer, and fluid transfer - Selects proper equipment for the unit operations that define the process - Design - Participates in project strategy meetings, develops design concepts, and recommends system solutions - Responsible for the development of Block Flow Diagrams (BFDs), Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs), and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) for all assigned projects - Develops or verifies utility matrixes, equipment lists, equipment specifications, and controls as well as instrumentation requirements for each assigned process project - Works closely with designers for proper arrangement of equipment and piping to support the process and incorporate sound ergonomic principles - Responsible to produce well-organized, finished construction drawings of good appearance, accuracy, and clarity, in accordance with company or client CAD standards - Responsible for producing discipline construction material specifications and scope of work documents for assigned projects - Construction Support - Participates as requested in construction inspection to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings, and specifications. Inspections may occur at the client’s site or at a vendor for specialty equipment. Prepares inspection reports - Performs equipment submittal reviews and responds to the contractor and/or vendor Requests for Information (RFIs). - Perform bid analysis for vendor services or equipment quotes - Provides timely solutions to field problems and prepares field orders, addenda, and record drawings - Effectively manages project startup, commissioning, verification, and closeout tasks - Project Management - Coordinates work with other disciplines. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in drawings and specifications - Assists the project team with the identification of process partners (equipment & automation) and pre-qualifies them for appropriate services - Monitors client requests against the proposal and known scope of work. Develops engineering change notices under the direction of the Project Manager - Assigns and monitors the tasks of junior engineers and designers - Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability - Creates a discipline work plan for assigned projects. Monitors workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules - Plans production and prepares man-hour estimates for project effort for all work in process discipline. Develops process-related budgets under the direction of the Project Manager - Produces pricing and proposal presentation documents and outlines specifications - Assists in coordinating information with and monitoring efforts/costs of discipline-related outside consultants. - Assists the project team in RFP responses, developing proposals including the preparation of conceptual estimates, schedules, and other proposal documents.
