Whether through integrated delivery that leverages our entire in-house team or individual services that address situational opportunities, we ensure the optimal outcome.   Job Responsibilities: - Application of Knowledge - Directs and is accountable for all aspects of the design effort on a project for the disciplines assigned including conformance of project systems and components with all relevant project criteria - Responsible for coordination among disciplines and conformance to corporate standards for design documents (e.g., calculations, drawing and specification production) - Client Management - Directs and is accountable for criteria acquisition from client, distribution to the AE team and communicating appropriate responses following review - Operates as primary client interface during design - Ensures meeting minutes are produced to document all client meetings - Where client needs and services are not defined, seeks to understand client criteria and documents what is needed for effective delivery of the project - Directs and is accountable for conformance of project systems and components with project criteria. Negotiates issue resolutions among design disciplines and between design and construction staff - Maintains a positive client relationship - Develops potential future work opportunities - Construction Support - Monitoring of design team response to Requests for Information and submittal review time - Assists in prioritizing critical responses - When assigned, track cost, scheduling and purchasing of equipment and services - When assigned, supervise or participate in installations and start-up - Change Management - Responsible for design scope change definition and management and impact to schedule and financial performance - Documents all changes in scope in accordance with terms of the contract - Financial - Develops design budget, fees and scopes with input from project design team and is responsible for design financial performance - Utilizes company standard procedures and software to project financial performance monthly - Monitors weekly fee burn rate weekly for short duration projects and proposals - Ensures Owner is invoiced in accordance with terms of the contract (design only projects) - Selects, negotiates with, manages and directs the work of outside consultants when needed for project expertise or workload - Monitors project cash flow - Communicates with project manager/project director on financial status as appropriate - Scheduling - Coordinates staff allocation to projects with other design project managers and AE business unit leader - Develops, in conjunction with the overall project schedule, the design schedule - Provides regular schedule updates to the design team - For proposal efforts, working with the Project Executive, determines the schedule for proposal pricing and deliverables - Directs and is accountable for design schedule compliance. Negotiates scheduling conflict resolution among design disciplines and between design and construction staff - Strategy - Participates in developing and executing “win strategy” for proposals - Participates in marketing and business development efforts as assigned - Seeks innovative ways to provide the design deliverables - Directs and is accountable for development of and compliance with a comprehensive and cohesive drawing and specifications production strategy - Participates in formulation of design project management corporate policies and procedures - Leadership - Supervises personnel assigned to project - Maintain all project communications through regular review meetings - Ensures all design contractual requirements are satisfied - Provides leadership in project teaming and integration of design and construction staff - Negotiates issue resolutions among design disciplines and between design and construction - Administrative duties as assigned including performance reviews and career development - Participates in applicable corporate quality programs for assigned projects - Participates in AE and corporate policies, procedures, committees and initiatives when assigned - Participates in project closeout, post construction review process and warranty responses - Ensuring all relevant design documents reside on the network in appropriate folders - Responsible for archiving of AE documents Education/Experience - Bachelor’s degree in engineering or architecture (preferred) - 10 years of progressive experience in a design discipline leading to 5 years as an independent lead designer and culminating with at least 3 years successfully performing design management and coordination activities in assistance to a design project manager - Senior Manager - - Working knowledge of two or more unrelated design disciplines (e.g., process and packaging or all facility design disciplines) and the ability to manage and coordinate all design activities thereof; or - Working knowledge of one or two highly related design disciplines (e.g., process & automation or mechanical & electrical) and the ability to manage and coordinate all design activities thereof on larger, more complex projects  Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications: - Professional registration or registration eligible preferred  - Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint - Knowledge of design document production and presentation software - Ability to budget, manage and forecast in EcoSys or other business unit approved design management software - Communications, negotiations, management and leadership skills - Previous experience managing and coordinating A&E teams for healthcare projects, experience with client management, and ability to work independently in alignment with healthcare practice goals and vision - Project Management Professional (PMP) certification desired but not required Haskell offers a very robust and comprehensive benefits package! The Construction & Manufacturing Team is responsible for providing the field management personnel, from the craft worker to the Project Superintendent. Haskell performs these projects, ranging in value from $0.5 million to $100 million for a variety of clients, including the food and beverage, beer, wine and spirits, healthcare, and other industries across the US and internationally.   Job Responsibilities: - Lead the conceptualization, planning, design, and execution of industrial/municipal wastewater treatment projects, ensuring alignment with project goals and client expectations - Utilize your Professional Engineer (PE) license to develop and/or validate engineering plans, specifications, and reports - Lead cross-functional teams including environmental, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & control engineers in developing project design drawings and specifications - Lead the development of design packages to support fast-paced construction efforts (i.e., progressive design-build packages) - Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery - Communicate directly with clients and senior Haskell management regarding project definition and execution - Engage with clients to understand their requirements, provide technical insights, and maintain strong client relationships throughout projects - Work with Haskell construction and cost-estimating teams to assist in developing successful project execution plans, including construction cost-estimates and project implementation schedules  - Work with mid-level and junior Haskell industrial/municipal wastewater engineering staff in developing their engineering skills as well as their overall professional growth. Your responsibilities include the supervision of staff assigned to your projects, ensuring staff utilization, overseeing the work performed by the assigned staff, the fire protection project budget/time management, and ensuring the design is completed within the project design schedule and budget.   Job Responsibilities: - Application of Knowledge of Building Systems (Conceptual Design) - Applies broad knowledge and skills in fire suppression, fire alarm, life safety, building codes, and hazardous materials - Seeks to broaden and apply knowledge in all fields of fire protection such as fire modeling, performance-based design, performance-based calculations, and specialized systems such as explosion protection, hazardous dust, hazardous materials, gaseous agent systems, and alternative suppression systems (e.g. mist, water spray) - Independently evaluates selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria - Works on projects of moderate size or portions of major projects - Ensures understanding and compliance with owner’s building program requirements and facility or corporate standards related to fire suppression, fire alarm, life safety, and code compliance building design - Confirms and reviews applicable codes and standards including but not limited to the International Building Code Council, National Fire Protection Association, and Unified Facilities Criteria - Given the scope of design services, the owner’s building program and facility standards, building code research, and relevant industry standards, establish and document the fire protection and life safety systems basis of design and in doing so provide clarification, qualifications, and design assumptions regarding relevant design issues - Works with building/facility owners to ensure that the appropriate cost-effective systems/products are utilized in their facility - Works with building owner and construction management team to validate construction cost and provide value engineering options as may be necessary - Knows when to obtain support from Lead Fire Protection Engineer or Senior Fire Protection Engineer for assistance to determine engineering and design building requirements - Interacts with clients, customers, officials, contractors, and others involved in the design and construction process - Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments - Design - Designs a complete project, system, component, process, or unique aspects as it relates to fire protection - Prepares complete contract documents and specifications - Performs and documents engineering calculations related to fire protection systems to select code-compliant systems and equipment - Performs and documents engineering calculations related to life safety and building code compliance - Performs accurate selection and layout for system(s) and equipment - Drafts or oversees the drafting of the fire protection systems and in doing so establishes the appropriate level of drawing detail to ensure completeness and accuracy of design and construction cost - Schedules fire protection equipment with the appropriate accessories and remarks - Independently develops the necessary schematic drawings for fire alarm and sprinkler drawings. (e.g., isometrics, single line diagrams, action matrices, etc.) - Independently writes all specifications for systems. Inspections may occur at the client’s site or at a vendor for specialty equipment. Prepares inspection reports. - Performs equipment submittal reviews and responds to the contractor and/or vendor Requests for Information (RFIs). - Perform bid analysis for vendor services or equipment quotes. - Provides timely solutions to field problems and prepares field orders, addenda, and record drawings. - Effectively manages project startup, commissioning, verification, and closeout tasks. - Project Management - Coordinates work with other disciplines. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in drawings and specifications. - Assists the project team with the identification of process partners (equipment & automation) and pre-qualifies them for appropriate services. - Monitors client requests against the proposal and known scope of work.
