Overview

In this role, you will assist Fitters and Welders in fitting and welding tasks such as positioning and aligning structural metal components in the fabrication of steel structures.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Operate punches, grinders, drills, saws, oxy-fuel torches, and other basic equipment and hand tools
  • Clean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary
  • May assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation
  • May perform minor maintenance or cleaning activities of journeyman's tools and equipment
  • Perform other routine duties as directed by an experienced craft person
  • Manually move, lift, and transfer material and safely operate overhead cranes

Education & Years of Experience: 

  • High school diploma preferred

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
