Overview

In this role, you will be responsible for identifying vendors and developing and issuing RFPs for subcontracts and purchase orders in support of projects within the design/build and EPC arenas. Your responsibility will also include analyzing bids and supporting the development of project estimates and issuing subcontracts and purchase orders.
Job Responsibilities:
  • Purchase order development and issuance
  • Closeout for all procurement related activities and supplier management
  • Creating complex solicitations, supporting proposals, conducting price and cost analysis, negotiating price/cost and price/cost-related terms and other subcontract provisions
  • Confers with suppliers and analyzes suppliers’ operations to determine factors that affect prices and determines lowest cost consistent with quality, reliability and ability to meet required schedules 
  • Reviews proposals and selects or recommends suppliers based on gathered information.  May also recommend improvements to procurement processes and procedures  
  • Initiates the RFP, sources qualified vendors/subcontractors, receives and evaluates the proposals and provides a bid tabulation and recommendation   
  • Negotiating final pricing and all commercial terms and conditions including payment terms and delivery dates
  • Initiates and performs price/cost analysis, responsible for validating single/sole source recommendations and finalizing the scope of work with input from project management
  • Issues and executes purchase orders, subcontract agreements and respective change orders within warrant authority limits established for the position 
  • Responsible for obtaining insurance certificates, performance and payment bonds and determining all second-tier subcontractors either prior to or shortly after award   
  • Interfaces with the appropriate Directors of Construction, Project Directors, and Project Manager to ensure appropriate “flow-down” of prime contract requirements

Education & Years of Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Associates degree within Construction Management or a related field of study
  • 3-5 years of construction procurement or project management experience 

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • Good communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal skills are essential for this position
  • Understanding of basic business principles such as contract language, bonds, insurance certificates, commercial terms and conditions, logistics and freight terms are all requirements within this position 
  • A background in project management or project controls within the construction industry (Preferred) 
  • Experience utilizing project management platforms, estimating software and/or contract management systems

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
