Overview

The Senior Civil Estimator develops accurate, detailed construction cost estimates for all Civil related trades at all project design stages. The Senior Civil Estimator leads and trains Team Members, while following the Preconstruction standards and processes. 

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing accurate, detailed civil construction cost estimates at progressive design stages
  • Developing associated scope of work clarifications
  • Identifying risk items and associated order of magnitude
  • Assisting with Preconstruction resource management
  • Assisting with the development and utilization of the Preconstruction processes, standards and tools
  • Assisting the Pricing Lead and participates in estimate review meetings
  • Contributing to cost savings exercises
  • Assisting with the development of bid packages
  • Assisting with the project construction budget
  • Assisting with Preconstruction-Operations Turnover Meetings
  • Assisting with Subcontractor and Vendor relationships
  • Assisting with project procurement and buyout
  • Collaborating with Preconstruction Leadership
  • Collaborating with designers and clients
  • Collaborating and assists the project operations team
  • Following project construction costs and market trends
  • Participating in Preconstruction software development, maintenance and historical costs
  • Leading and training Estimating personnel
  • Traveling as required, 10% - 20%
  • Other duties which may be assigned as needed

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering and 5 years of estimating experience preferred or 15 years relevant experience in the construction industry

To thrive in this role, you'll need:

  • Demonstrated sitework estimating experience preparing quantity surveys and cost estimates for all civil construction scopes of work, requiring complete knowledge of labor, material, equipment and subcontractor costs
  • Experience developing detailed cost estimates for civil projects, including earthwork, site utilities, process yard piping, roads, site finishes, deep foundation systems, earth retention systems, dewatering systems, bypass pumping, etc.
  • Self-perform estimating experience
  • Experience within Water/Wastewater and Industrial markets
  • Estimating software experience required, Beck Destini Estimator preferred
  • Proficient with earthwork software such as Agtek or InSite
  • Proficient with on screen takeoff software, such as Planswift
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Design-Build and CMAR project delivery method experience
  • Proven computer skills, including the utilization of Microsoft Office programs
  • Revit/Navisworks experience preferred

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
