The Construction & Manufacturing Team supports all of Haskell’s delivery groups across the company and the projects throughout the United States. The Construction & Manufacturing Team is responsible for providing the field management personnel, from the craft worker to the Project Superintendent. The Construction & Manufacturing Team also provides the team member with logistical support; including but not limited to establishing per diem rates, company trucks for superintendents, and the coordination of arrival for team members as needed on the project. The Construction & Manufacturing Team provides continual training for our team members to support their development from entry-level craft workers, via in-house/online courses, to local jurisdiction apprenticeship programs. In this role, you will monitor all quality activities on a project and ensure compliance with the Quality Implementation Plan (QIP). You will participate in design phase activities and document reviews. You should understand design documents and performs precons, first work in place, and periodic inspections to ensure compliance with the design documents. Promotes the use of materials, finishes, and details with excellent long-term quality performance.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

 

Pre-Estimate Phase

  • Join design review meetings to help align scope, budget, and buildability.
  • Plan estimating strategies and assess project risks.
  • Review drawings and proposals to define project scope.

Estimate Development

  • Lead teams in preparing detailed cost estimates and general conditions.
  • Create accurate estimates at various design stages.
  • Coordinate site visits and pre-bid meetings.
  • Review schedules and recommend value engineering solutions.
  • Identify risks and support in developing winning bid strategies.

Subcontractor Management

  • Build and maintain strong subcontractor relationships.
  • Ensure fair and competitive bidding with qualified subs.
  • Lead scope reviews and recommend subcontractor selections.
  • Develop diversity and inclusion plans for subcontractor participation on public sector projects.

Post-Estimate Support

  • Help finalize project budgets and ensure they meet company standards.
  • Assist in subcontractor selection and risk management.
  • Participate in lessons learned to improve future estimates.
  • Support project teams with changes and cost tracking during construction.

Data & Training

  • Maintain and update cost data and subcontractor databases.
  • Train and mentor preconstruction staff.
  • Support employee career development and performance reviews.s

To thrive in this role, you will need:

  • Minimum of 3- 5 years of estimating experience or 15 years of related experience in the construction industry
  • Experience in estimating, scheduling, budget/cost control, construction, external & internal client relationships, strong subcontractor & vendor relationships/knowledge, computer skills, interpersonal skills
  • Excellent computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand owner/engineer requirements with ability to work with conceptual information
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated success in managing preconstruction pursuits
  • Ability to train others and monitor their work for quality and completeness
  • Demonstrated success in managing support staff
  • Knowledge of industry standard bid practice
  • Ability to communicate effectively with internal clients, external clients, and subcontractors

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
