Haskell’s Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. The Design & Consulting Team serves a diverse set of markets including food and beverage, consumer products, aviation and aerospace, civil infrastructure, healthcare, and Federal Government projects. In this role, you will be involved as a member of a collaborative team of design professionals to influence and grow the Landscape Architecture discipline. Projects there have an individually unique context for designing thoughtful, functional, and sustainable spaces. This will be paramount in elevating the landscape architectural practice. Your design solutions will bridge the natural and built environments and contribute to the current resiliency narrative. Typically, the projects provide an extensive range of landscape architectural design opportunities due to the breadth of our practice throughout the United States, Latin America, and the Asian Pacific region. Additionally, you will work to fulfill experience requirements for eligibility to take the professional licensing exam while working as part of a multi-disciplined team.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Conceptual Design
    • Establish a Discipline basis of design for the Design Manager to review
    • Detailed Design
    • Analysis Ability
      • Performs dimensional, interference, and basic design checks on the layouts and sketches of Licensed professionals and, as requested, on interdisciplinary drawing sets
      • Performs analysis or calculations as assigned
      • Designing for Safety incorporated into drawings
      • Responsible for design compliance with Owner criteria
    •  Detailing
      • Applies discipline design and detailing fundamentals in developing designs and specifications under the supervision of and subject to final approval by the Licensed Professional
      • Assists Licensed Professional with plotting/production/assembly of drawing packages and writing specifications
      • Code compliance review with a design professional
      • Maintains AE checklists for the Design Manager to review
      • Participates in coordination review sessions
      • Maintains orderly work files and prepares clear well-written memos/correspondence.  When assigned, prepares presentation materials
      • Coordinates and checks work carefully to minimize all deficiencies, errors, and omissions
      • Uses Haskell standards and procedures
    • Construction Documents
      • Produces well-organized, finished design documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness from layouts, sketches, or written instructions
    • Construction Support
      • Subject to final approval of Licensed Professional, check shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents
      • Assists Licensed Professional in-field inspections, development of solutions to field problems, preparation of field orders, addenda, and record drawings
      • Shop drawings returned on schedule
      • Responds to field/construction questions as directed by the discipline leader
      • Creates inspection reports and punch lists
    • Planning, Scheduling, and Profitability
      • Creates work plans for assigned tasks. Monitors and projects personal workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules
      • Meets scheduled key dates
      • Discusses progress regularly with Licensed Professional of Record
      • Advises Design Manager of changes
      • Design to budget man-hours
    • Project Management
      • Adhere to project strategy
      • Documents meetings and telephone conversations to communicate to discipline leader

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited college or university
  • Typical minimum experience of 0 - 3 years

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Discipline production software at beginner level (i.e. Revit and AutoCad)
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite
  • Experienced at hand rendering

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
