The Construction & Manufacturing Team supports all of Haskell’s delivery groups across the company and the projects throughout the United States. The Construction & Manufacturing Team is responsible for providing the field management personnel, from the craft worker to the Project Superintendent. The Construction & Manufacturing Team also provides the team member with logistical support; including but not limited to establishing per diem rates, company trucks for superintendents, and the coordination of arrival for team members as needed on the project. The Construction & Manufacturing Team provides continual training for our team members to support their development from entry-level craft workers, via in-house/online courses, to local jurisdiction apprenticeship programs. Joining our Construction & Manufacturing Team will enable you to build the buildings on which people depend; collaborating with your team to overcome obstacles and fix problems on the job site using your skills. As directed by the Production Manager, you will be responsible for the direct supervision of painting and loading personnel and for obtaining favorable cost results with respect to labor, equipment, and material utilization while adhering to quality and schedule requirements.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Supervise paint shop personnel to assure production requirements are met
  • Organize paint shop personnel and processes for optimum efficiency
  • Monitor work products for compliance with quality requirements
  • Train and mentor paint shop personnel
  • Champion safety policy
  • Provide shop manager with timely reports, i.e.: training, quality, and final inspection
  • Assist shop manager in paint shop personnel recognition and/or discipline
  • Oversee and check shipping bills of lading
  • Verify accurate job costing of labor hours
  • Maintain appropriate inventory of paint and related consumables, i.e.: paint thinner, masking tape, dunnage, blast media (de-scaler and media blast), sandblasting sand, etc.
  • Monitor paint shop equipment for maintenance issues to ensure efficient workflow
  • Maintain environmental records
  • Perform daily paint dry film samples
  • Perform final inspection of the finished product
  • Ensure that adequate and appropriate hand tools and power tools are available
  • Store painted materials in an orderly fashion to accommodate loading for delivery
  • Maintain compliance with environmental and air quality requirements

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma and a minimum of five years of experience in the steel fabrication, manufacturing, or coating industry

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Good organizational and verbal communication skills; attention to detail
  • Good analysis and observation skills
  • Carries out detailed written and verbal instructions independently
  • Provides effective verbal and written instructions
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities in tough situations
  • Possesses a sound and deep knowledge of construction procedures and safety measures

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
