In this role you'll be responsible for the production of innovative, appropriate, cost-effective, designs, drawings, and specifications to communicate construction means/methods and necessary processes to design for modular constructions. You'll engage in interdisciplinary coordination between design and construction teams. 

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design Visualization
    • Works independently on a variety of projects
    • Effectively utilizes architectural design tools, publishing software, and visualization tools to design and document building manufacturing and/or construction processes
    • Participates in process meetings with design and construction team members
    • Detailed knowledge of model-based design (BIM) protocols, workflow, and delivery
    • Detailed knowledge of construction tools, means and methods
  • Detailed Design
    • Analysis Ability
      • Detailed knowledge of discipline design drawings, specifications, and can determine compliance with all applicable cods, ordinances, standards and regulations
      • Detailed knowledge of safety standards for construction with ability to communicate them nonverbally
    • Detailing
      • Uses Haskell standards and procedures
      • Coordinates work with other disciplines, including outside consultants as applicable. Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors, and omissions in drawings and specifications
      • Leads the production of well-organized, finished drawings of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness
    •  Presentation Documents
      • Oversees and produces well-organized documents of good appearance, accuracy, clarity and correctness
      • Effectively communicates construction means and methods and phased construction in detail for inexperienced labor
      • Coordinates work with multiple disciplines 
  •  Construction Support
    • Partners with technical efforts of architectural and engineer trades on projects
    • Advises and assists Construction Project Managers, Superintendents, and Subcontractors in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents
    • Participates in construction observation to monitor compliance with design intent, construction drawings, and specifications. Prepares inspection reports and punch lists
    • Provides solutions to field problems, responds to RFI, and prepares field orders and addenda
    • Visits projects in construction to document processes. Works with design and construction teams to innovate improvement in construction methods. Develops new solutions to reduce cost and sped up construction
  • Planning/Scheduling
    • Projects, monitors, and informs design manager of workload status of project discipline staff
    • Participates in project strategy meetings
    • Participates in the creation of overall key date schedule, including permitting schedule
  • Profitability
    • Prepares man-hour estimate for discipline work
    • Assists in monitoring costs of discipline-related outside consultants
    • Participates in team review to assure discipline scope is covered in project budgets, estimates, and subcontractor bids
  • Leadership
    • Directs technical efforts of discipline staff assigned
    • Monitors discipline adherence to strategy, key date schedule, and work plan
    • Assists in coordinating information with and monitoring discipline-related outside consultants
    • Monitors workload status
    • Prepares meeting minutes and other communications
    • Mentoring assigned staff 
    • Keeps apprised of new technologies and software and assists in the incorporation of these into the drawing and communication processes

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university
  • Typically 3-5 years of discipline experience

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Licensed Professional Architect, preferred
  • Construction Management experience preferred
  • Knowledgeable in A/E technology and software. (Bluebeam, Revit, Adobe In Design, And Adobe Illustrator)
  • CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management) is preferred

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
