We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented entry-level civil/environmental engineer to join our industrial wastewater team. You will play a pivotal role in executing the complete lifecycle of projects, from conceptualization through engineering, design, procurement, and construction and start-up support. Your work will be directed by senior industrial wastewater engineers. You will work directly with Haskell design and construction teams in support of design-only and integrated design-build industrial wastewater treatment projects. Haskell performs these projects, ranging in value from $0.5 million to $100 million for a variety of clients, including the food and beverage, beer, wine and spirits, healthcare, and other industries across the US and internationally.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to develop efficient and sustainable industrial wastewater system designs
  • Conduct research and gather and analyze data to understand the specific requirements and challenges of various industries and their wastewater profiles
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering plans and specifications for industrial wastewater treatment systems
  • Perform engineering calculations related to wastewater treatment system design, including process design and system hydraulics
  • Contribute to environmental impact assessments, feasibility studies, and risk assessments related to wastewater systems
  • Participate in field visits to industrial sites to gather data, assess existing systems, and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Support the development of proposals and project reports, presenting technical information clearly and concisely
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes related to industrial wastewater treatment systems
  • Collaborate with regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental standards
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including environmental, civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation & control engineers in developing project design drawings and specifications
  • Work directly with equipment manufacturers in selecting and specifying wastewater treatment equipment
  • Assist Haskell construction teams in reviewing Equipment Submittals and Requests-for-Information (RFIs)
  • Work with and be mentored by senior staff in developing your engineering skills and advancing your professional growth

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field; Master's degree is a plus
  • Entry-level to five years of experience in the design, management, and implementation of industrial wastewater treatment systems
  • Strong academic background in fluid mechanics, water/wastewater treatment processes, and environmental chemistry
  • Familiarity with wastewater treatment technologies such as activated sludge, biological treatment, chemical precipitation, advanced oxidation, and membrane filtration
  • Familiarity of industrial wastewater hydraulics

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Proficiency in relevant engineering software and tools, including MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit or BIM
  • Strong personal management skills, including the ability to manage commitments
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information
  • Critical thinking skills, including the ability to take the initiative to research, analyze and solve technical problems
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team and adapt to evolving project needs

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
