In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing construction documents, submittals, and installations on a wide range of construction projects for the Building Envelope elements and providing written recommendations for improving or correcting the installations.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for reviewing construction documents (drawings and specification) for effective Building Envelope Detailing (assuring conformance with the RFP) and making recommendations to the Design Team on installations and products of the Building Envelope elements (roofing, windows, storefront, curtainwall, thermal protection, air barrier, sealants, etc.)
  • Responsible for reviewing submittals of the Building Envelope elements in accordance with the request for proposal (RFP) and contract documents
  • Responsible for attending and/or Leading the Preparatory Meetings of the Building Envelope elements including the production of the Meeting Agenda and Meeting Minutes
  • Assist in the verification of all Building Envelope materials and equipment before installation to assure conformity with the RFP, Contract Documents, and Submittals
  • Assist in the procurement of testing agencies for the Building Envelope elements (air Barrier, windows, storefront, curtain wall, etc.)
  • Responsible for coordinating and/or leading the initial and follow-up observations for the building enclosure with the Quality Coordinator, Project Management, and Design Team
  • Responsible for the verification of the correction for any deficiencies noted during construction document review, submittal review, observations, and testing

Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 10 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree with 6 years of experience. Bachelor’s degree to be from an accredited university in architecture, engineering, construction management, or other degree related to the AEC profession.
  • Experience in technical design and/or construction expertise and background in Quality.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:

  • Ability to read and effectively interpret building construction documentation and associated reports.
  • Ability to interface with client’s Quality personnel and provide direction to ensure compliance with testing, observation procedures, and results
  • Good interpersonal/communication skills
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Good organizational skills to handle/prioritize multiple tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up
  • Computer skills: Ability to work with a laptop, iPad, and mobile devices
  • Ability to access project information remotely when working outside the office
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Ability to utilize project management controls system software and other applicable construction technologies
  • Ability to manage/store project photos from a camera, iPad, and mobile devices to project
  • Successfully completed Air Barrier Association of America (ABAA) Certification(s) or will successfully complete within one year
  • Successfully completed the Construction Quality Management for Contractors or will successfully complete it within one year
  • Successfully completed OSHA 30-hour or will successfully complete it within one year

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:

 

While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
